City Grown is only as successful as the community that we are a part of and that supports us. By choosing to farm in the city, we have chosen to share what we are doing intimately with our neighbors. We want to share the joy of growing and producing our food with our community. Transparency in our food systems has largely been lost as our food has become more complicated, more industrialized and produced farther from our tables. We aim to reverse this trend and welcome your participation in your food production.
We have many opportunities for people who are interested in City Grown, whether or not you have a hankering for getting your hands dirty!
Let’s Grow Together!
Your Land. We work with wonderful land owners who have partnered with us to allow us to farm in their backyards and unused spaces. Land partners are what makes this farm possible. In exchange for the use of the space, we provide our land partners with a share of the produce throughout the farm season. If you have land you would like to see utilized for our purposes and you live in Wallingford/Ballard/Tangletown/Crown Hill, we want to talk with you about a partnership. To make City Grown a viable farm, we must work with certain plot constraints. Please email us at citygrownsea@gmail.com.
Volunteer. Help on the farm preparing new beds, weeding, planting, harvesting, and doing many other projects. We schedule work parties regularly. This is an excellent way to learn new skills. Check our calendar for upcoming work dates. We may also be able to take consistent, regular volunteers on as work-traders and pay you in vegetables. Email if you’re interested.
We are also looking for graphic design, marketing, legal advice, accounting advice and other business development help. We have more listed on our Wish list.
Our goal for 2013 is to include a bicycle delivery service as an option for our CSA members. Let us know if you want to join our delivery fleet.
